2017 Chevrolet Volt
It is easy to see why the Chevrolet Volt took home the 2016 Green Car of the Year from The Green Car Journal. With its 53* total electric mile range and 1.5L direct injection engine, this is an electric car with a backup plan. While the Volt is not completely electric vehicle, it is a realistic option for the eco-minded commuter that alleviates the anxiety of running out of battery. You really can’t go wrong with this new Chevrolet Volt.
The Volt is programed to leave the driveway in all electric mode. When the electric battery taps out the engine kicks in to recharge the lithium-ion cells in a gentle switch over. There are three driving modes available on the Volt in addition to Normal Mode; Sport, Mountain and Hold. Sport give the driver a bit more throttle response, Mountain keeps the battery charge in reserve to help the engine with the steep grades and Hold allows the drive to save the electric charge for when pure-electric driving is needed. Chevy’s Teen Driver lets you coach your teen while they drive even when you are not in the vehicle with them.
Up to 53 Miles of Battery Range
The new Chevrolet Volt is powered by two electric motors that work in unison to optimize efficiency and conserve electric charge while being able to provide responsive power and torque. The new Volt can get up to 53 miles of battery range.
Up to 420 Miles Total Range on A Full Charge and Full Tank of Gas
When the Volt's lithium-ion battery is fully charged, it is capable of driving up to 53 miles without using gas. The second-generation Volt battery is both lighter and holds more energy that the first-generation battery. When the battery starts to run low on electric charge, the Volt will seamlessly engage its gas-powered generator to keep you going for a total range of up to 420 miles on a full charge and full tank of gas.
Over 1,000 Miles Between Fill-Ups With Regular Charging
The new Chevrolet Volt looks for ways to smartly use its energy while you're on the road. Through features such as regenerative braking and Regen on Demand™, the Chevrolet Volt captures its own momentum and is able to recharge the battery as it slows down.
