2017 Nissan Maxima
The 2017 Maxima received few upgrades since it was completely redesigned last year. The one substantial upgrade is that Apple CarPlay is now available on all of trim levels, with rumors that Android Auto will soon follow. The Maxima continues to sport its signature low stance, chrome tipped exhaust, sculpted lines and trademark Nissan grille. The exterior look is finished off with Nissan’s boomerang-shaped headlights and stylish aluminum alloy wheels that come in 18” and 19” depending on the trim level.
Regularly called the 4-Door Sports Car ® the Maxima delivers an ultimate driving experience. Modeled on a fighter jet like concept, the Maxima offers zero gravity seats with 300 hp, 261 lb-ft of torque, but with four doors. The Xtronic ® CVT transmission offers a significantly different driving experience than other CVTs on the road. It is equipped with dynamic step shifting, wider gear ratio coverage and an adaptive shift controller. All of these features create more realistic feel when the vehicle shifts for a more engaging driving experience.
The interior of the Maxima provides the luxury experience without the luxury price tag. With its Ascot Leather-appointed Seating that has Diamond Quilted Alacantra Inserts ®, leather wrapped steering wheel, dual climate control, remote start, ambient lighting, and dual panel panoramic moonroof it is easy to see why the Maxima has positioned itself as an entry level luxury vehicle (interior is dependent on trim level).
The Maxima also comes packed with a host of safety and tech features that assist in your drive. The standard 8.0 inch multi-touch control screen and the 7.0 inch Advanced Drive-Assist ® displays key information at an easy glance for the driver. Other great tech features dependent on trim level include; Nissan Connect, Bluetooth ® hands-free, Bose ® Premium Audio system, turn-by-turn navigation.
Under the hood lies the beating heart: Nissan’s legendary VQ V6 engine. From sodium-filled exhaust valves and anodized pistons, to the high-flow tuned induction system, more than 60% of the engine’s components have been redesigned for the Maxima®. It even borrows some performance technology from the mighty GT-R®. This 300-hp powerhouse exhilarates from idle to redline. Forget everything you ever knew, and everything you ever heard, about Continuously Variable Transmissions. Engineered for both enthusiast and economist, Maxima’s CVT features dynamic step shifting, wider gear ratio coverage, and an adaptive shift controller. The result: more distinctive shift points, a more connected, spirited driving experience, and increased fuel economy.
Maxima’s cutting-edge technology connects you to your ride, and the road, like no other sports sedan. The standard 8” multi-touch control screen and the 7” Advanced Drive-Assist® Display keep key information as close as a glance. A standard navigation system guides you to where you want to go, and with navigation “Swipe to Meter”, you can even send map directions from one screen to the other with just a swipe. Standard NissanConnectSM, standard Bluetooth® hands-free communications, an available Bose® Premium Audio system, turn-by-turn navigation—the list goes on. And of course, the Display Commander is there, letting you dial it all in from a single, central location. From a speeding alert, to a curfew alert, the 2017 Nissan Maxima allows you to set multiple alerts to keep you informed.
Using radar technology to help keep an eye on your speed and proximity to the vehicle ahead, FEB gives you audio and visual display warnings to help you reduce your speed if necessary. If a collision is unavoidable, this feature will engage the brakes to help reduce both the speed of the impact and the severity of a collision. Predictive Forward Collision Warning will alert you to potential risks up ahead by monitoring the velocity and distance of the vehicle in front of the vehicle ahead of you. Although obscured from your forward field-of-view, sensors can detect if that vehicle suddenly or unexpectedly slows, giving you the time to react to the situation. If the FEB system detects that you need to slow down to avoid a collision, FEB will alert you with visual and audible cues. If necessary it will assist you by automatically applying pressure to the brakes to help avoid or mitigate a collision.
